Q:If I email you to request for galleys, can I request a certain galley that I would like to review in that same email?

Yes.

However, I do have to stress, we receive lots and lots and lots of review copy requests and we cannot come close to filling even a large percentage of them. I’m sorry! Galleys are expensive to produce and because of this, we’re asked to only order what we think we’re going to need. That number is different for each book, but invariably small, relatively speaking to the number of finished copies of a book are printed. I feel like I always need to stress this because I don’t want people getting upset when they send in a lot of requests and no galleys are sent to them. In those cases, we usually just don’t have enough to spare. It’s not personal!

However, we do use our galleys in a variety of ways, so if you do request one and one is not sent to you, be on the lookout for giveaways we do on our Penguin Teen Facebook, Goodreads, LibraryThing, or as part of a trade ad in PW or Shelf Awareness. @PenguinUSA also does a weekly YA Thursday where they give away 5 galleys or finished copies of a YA book to followers on Twitter. We occasionally give away galleys on @PenguinTeen as well.
