Today’s Penguin Teen Author Spotlight guest makes up the second half of the duo that wrote the incredible Lucid! As a book the Kirkus Review blog called “fascinating” and “extremely well-crafted,” we think you’ll agree this author team should stick together! Luckily, if you continue on to read all about Adrienne Stoltz and her LA author life (writing poolside, anyone?) it looks like the two are planning another book together already! In the meantime, let’s learn more about Adrienne!
Name: Adrienne Stoltz
Available: Taken. (But the book came out October 2nd!)
Who’s your favorite author, living or dead? Faulkner
What’s your favorite thing about your book? The girls – Maggie and Sloane
If you could spend one year on a deserted island with one character from literature, who would you choose? James Bond.
Where do you write? With Ron we write poolside at the Montage Hotel. Lucky us. By myself, I write at my desk and listen to my daughter play in the other room. Lucky me.
Who is your favorite hero or heroine of history? Tough question. Gandhi for hero. Louisa May Alcott for heroine
Do you tweet? What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever tweeted? No tweeting. I long for the witty brevity required to tweet. Brevity is the soul of wit as Twitter has proven.
What is your favorite season? LA is one long season, which I enjoy, but I really love me some Connecticut Indian summer.
If you could teleport anywhere in the known universe right now, where would you go? Bhutan.
Do you have any writing rituals? I have rituals for everything.
What is your idea of earthly happiness? Baby, husband, beach. Heaven.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to? Lollapalooza 1994. A floating concert-goer accidentally kicked me in the face with her steel toed Doc Martens. A security guard lifted me from the crowd and sent me to the medic station under the stage. They released me backstage and I got to meet the Beastie Boys who were playing basketball. Swoon. Well worth a bloody nose.
What are you currently working on? Professionally? Our next book which is a total passion project and complete joy to imagine. Personally? Patience.
Thanks Adrienne! We can’t wait for the next one!
