Check it out right now to see the new cover! We’re so beyond excited for the fourth Bloodlines book!
This Bloodlines gif was a special request from Tara, publicity assistant extraordinaire. If this this gif makes your heart happy, you should really get off the Internet and start reading THE INDIGO SPELL!
Our special correspondent Emilie spied Ruta Sepetys’s OUT OF THE EASY and Richelle Mead’s THE INDIGO SPELL getting cozy in the Miami airport! Not sure what’s up with the blue tinge in this photo, though…everything’s different in Miami, even the light.
Today we are BEYOND excited to welcome the amazing Richelle Mead to the Penguin Teen Author Spotlight! As I’m sure you all know, The Indigo Spell comes out tomorrow, and we finally get some more Sydney/Adrian banter! I mean, that’s what the whole book is about, right? No? Vampires? Witches? Boarding school? I guess there’s that, too. (Just kidding - you know we LOVE the magical world Richelle is so good at creating!) Since your whole day is just going to be about waiting until you can download The Indigo Spell onto your e-reader, why don’t you pass the time learning a little bit more about Richelle?
Name: Richelle Mead
Novel: The Indigo Spell
Available: February 12, 2013
Who’s your favorite author, living or dead? They’re a writing team: Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
What’s your favorite thing about your book? The humor and chemistry between characters, especially in the banter. I could write dialogue all day.
If you could spend one year on a deserted island with one character from literature, who would you choose? Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. I’d want a challenge to pass the time.
Where do you write? I write in a very messy office with mauve walls. The floor has so much stuff on it that I accidentally stepped on my cat the other day because I couldn’t see her. Don’t worry—she’s okay.
Who is your favorite hero or heroine of history? Martin Luther King, Jr.
Do you tweet? What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever tweeted? I tweet so much that I’m not sure I could pick a funniest ever tweet. But my funniest in the last 24 hours was about how my husband told me I insulted the country of Ireland by accidentally calling our Jameson flashlight a Guinness flashlight.
What is your favorite season? Autumn. Love the air, love the colors, love the scent.
If you could teleport anywhere in the known universe right now, where would you go? I’d visit my family in the Midwest and bring my son with me. Right now, we’re overdue for a visit because I don’t want to bring a toddler on a plane. Teleportation would solve a lot of problems.
Do you have any writing rituals? Coffee and at least an hour of writing “warm-up,” be it social media, business email, or blogging.
What is your idea of earthly happiness? World peace and joy. It sounds like a cliché, but the older I get, and the more horrible the news gets, the more I think it’s worth setting my standards high.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to? Tori Amos, in her 1990s Little Earthquakes tour. I was fifteen and still get chills thinking about it.
What are you currently working on? The Fiery Heart, book #4 of the Bloodlines series. It’s as hot as its title!
Thanks, Richelle! We cannot WAIT for tomorrow and The Indigo Spell!
It’s our LAST Who is Marcus Finch clue, and THE INDIGO SPELL goes on sale TOMORROW! AHH!
